Kicking around ideas for Funes Competition Posters…

Posted by: faithkeala on: February 10, 2010

This Saturday I went searching the internet for all sorts of inspiration. Inspiration for poster ideas. These are some of the thoughts I liked the best.

These couple ideas for posters I am calling the “Get Discovered” line.

In place of the text in this image I would repeat the words “show work” or “submit work” or “enter your work”, in a cool color probably a blue. Then in one bold color, probably a red, popping out would be “get discovered”.

The actual event information would then be below the square in a very subtle black and white.

I would use a similar idea here basically with smaller letters, and instead a face, I would probably have just a dot.

This idea seems like it would be a little bit more complicated than its worth. Basically same look and feel with a photo of a computer instead of the cell phone here. the words flowing off of the machine would info for the contest, encouraging words to enter the contest and then repeat the event info clearly below the computer image. The only reason I would really like to attempt this , is that I would like to add some tech merchandising to my portfolio. I don’t think it would be “cool” enough for this specific demographic, i.e. college kids.

This next idea however I think would a big hit with the kids. It could be a line draawing of the school then it zooms in on the red window throughout the comic book cells, then when you get to the last cell its a room with little red squares all over the wall and people looking at them, in the red squares or below them it could read, “Your Work”. Below the comic strip would be the event detailed information.

This next one might also make an interesting image:

Instead of the profile being a man with glasses I could take a photo of another person taking a photo and create a similar image to this one. I think it makes an interesting over all shape, that would explain what contest is about graphically.

Dada Poster Idea

This idea might be interesting too… Fairly simple idea to pull off, just need a face and some clip art and so on…

I like its raw – not putting on airs, not intimidating, punky kind of feel.

And now for the piece de la resistance! (is that how that is spelled?…eek) This next idea is my personal favorite and I think that it is bound to get some attention! I thought I ought to run it by the powers that be first, so nobody gets offended.

Basically the idea is slicing an 24×36 poster in fourths. Each fourth has a different person, big, small, boy, girl, etc…variety.

Each person is in a flasher pose, full body shot with their back to the camera. On their backs, the words, “Show us what you got!”

Then below their feet details for the event and how to submit works, deadlines and etc. Oh please, please, can I do this idea! I think it will be really funny – and there will be no real nudity, just an idea for shock value. Also I could stylize it so that it looks less crude. I don’t think anybody will actually think that we want to see them naked. It could be really funny!!!
